TRUMP’S MESSAGES

WHAT DO THEY MEAN AND WHAT DIDN’T HE SAY?

Like most of you, I listened and watched, watched because the visual part was more important to the region than the words. When it was over,  the first thing I did was turn off the networks. How President Trump gave his speech was important, but the messaging inside the speech, that was brilliant. If you have followed me for the past several years, you know one of my basic rules of dealing with issues in the Middle East. You must look for the messages inside the message. It’s a classic Arab concept and it’s played to the tilt. Okay, now that I have that scene setter out of the way, let’s get down to what took place yesterday. Now, everyone has opinions and that’s the main reason why I turn off the networks. It’s a given that many people will interpret what the US President said in a variety of ways. Let me give you my interpretation looking at this event through the eyes and ears fo two groups; The Middle Eastern Nations and Russia. China? Ya, I’ll touch on that as well. So, here we go!

NO NUKES:

After the, “. In your face” way the US assassinated Soleimani, was there any doubt over President Trump’s opening statement? Do you think anyone in Tehran listened to those words, with the Service Chiefs standing behind the President, and thought, “ No way he would attack our facilities”. So, the fist message was black and white. From that point on, the messaging became very complex, for everyone, to include the real enemy of President Trump, The new US Socialist party.

NATO AND OIL:

“We no longer need the Middle East oil and it’s up to Europe to find the new balance with the region and Russia”. As a reminder, I’m looking at this speech from the Middle East and Moscow glasses. How did that message go over in Saudi? I’ve said for two years now, the inbound King of Saudi is looking for new alliances, but not under the conditions the Russians and Chinese would require. Bottom line, Saudi doesn’t trust Moscow or Beijing.

How did this messaging go over in Moscow? NATO, the dirty word Moscow hates, and for good reason. If President Trump was giving the hint, “we are out of the region”, then does Moscow truly believe that NATO has the stones to step up to the plate? Nope! So, was this, in the end, good news for Moscow? If I was in Moscow, I would have looked over and seen that Cheshire Cat grin the Tsar is known for. The US is selling fuel, not buying it and until some nut job like Sanders or Pocahontas gets in the White House, that fact will remain. So, what did the Middle East hear? “Don’t need you and don’t care”.

The People of Iran:

Here is where the message inside the message really hit home to Team Khamenei. When the US President made the statement about the future of Iran and then followed it up by a closing statement to, “the people of Iran”, you could hear the old men tossing their shoes at the set all over the world!
Did Tehran interpret President Trump's comment to mean the US would support further uprisings in Iran? You bet they did. More importantly, did the, “people of Iran” interpret this message the same way. Oh ya. How about Moscow? What Moscow heard was, the US is going to stir the pot in Iran, but talk about leaving the region. If anything President Trump said yesterday could lead to further action by Team Khamenei, it’s this topic of, “ the people of Iran”. It made me think of one of my favorite topics, The Law of Unintended Consequences! Did someone on Team Trump think through the impact of this message? Too late now.

Yesterday’s address by the US President may have been part of the “Off Ramp” concept, but the messages inside the messages, that is what the region and others heard. ‘ Don’t try to build a bomb. We don’t need the region. EU try and grow a set and take on the region you keep telling me I’m approaching all wrong. We are going to make life a living hell for you inside your own country Mr. Khamenei’. And with that, the US President left the podium.

What was not mentioned:

I must admit, I was so busy interpreting what President Trump was saying and showing, that I may have missed something, but let me bring up two topics that I’m a little confused about.

Flt PS752:

Did the US Intelligence Community/ IC / have an understanding of what happened to that airliner leaving Tehran, leaving right in the middle of a possible war for that very city? Did the US have enough situational awareness of anti air systems in Iran to see what was launched and where? That depends on the size of the weapon. A shoulder fired system would have a chance of being detected if the airliner had the systems to do so. The US would have the ability if we had active air operations over the area. The fact of the matter is, the crash of this flight is very....very...suspect.

If the US knew this airliner was shot down, shouldn’t the US President had said something about it during his speech? If he walked up to the podium and said, “ The murderous regime in Tehran shot down a commercial airliner”. Just what took place here? The video clips I’ve seen clearly show a motor in flames, the kind of event a shoulder fired weapon would create. The incident happened in a area that would have been protected by air defense assets. The Iranians seem very reluctant to let anyone see the wreckage; sound familiar? The Ukraine?  Just what is the level of training of Iranian anti air teams? How professional are the Offices who run these teams? I will give you a hint, the level of technical and professional training in Iran is not even measurable compared to what takes place in the US Military. Screw up in a training exercise and you don’t get an Article 15, administrative punishment, you get beat! How’s that for pressure for some low hanging fruit, ADA, unit? You think you are at war and then this aircraft comes flying over. You didn’t even work in that area up until a few days ago and you have not had real training in months or longer. Could this airliner been shot down? I would say yes, the odds are better than 50/50. So, what happened to this story? BBC ran something this morning about how the aircraft attempted to return to the airport. Indications are, the aircraft declared no mechanical emergency and the airliner’s track didn’t show a struggle for speed or altitude. It went from everything fine, to disaster. Sounds like something happened and that something was not a normal event.

Here is what I hope is not the case. I hope, pray, the answer is not, “now is not the time Mr. President to bring up this event. We are looking for a way out of this, not to make it worse. Let the Ukrainian government and Canadians push the issue. If they bring it up, then it only strengthens our position on the actions of Tehran”. Like I said, I hope and pray this is not the case, but this event is very disturbing.

Israel:

When the US President made his indirect comments about not needing the region anymore, he din’t mention not leaving Israel? Why? No mention of the US’s alliance with Israel. Why? Again, the issue of timing. I can bet you the decision was made to avoid any discussion of Israel in this speech. Talking about Israel and the alliance between the two nations is not a pathway to an Off Ramp! Did this upset Israel? Nope. Why? Because their government already knew there would be no mention of Israel. Like I said, I was not completely tuned in for the whole speech, but these two topics seem to have been left out of the script. Wait. Did anyone hear the US President use the words, or something close to, “You better not do it again”! Did I miss a typical Trump statement? Oh ya.....Off Ramp......I forgot! Here is one thing about, “ Off Ramps”. Sometimes that ramp is very short and the next thing you know, you are right back in heavy traffic.

TEHRAN STRIKES

After the events of last night, I am overwhelmed by the volume of opinions, some of them being my own:) What happened? What next? These are the two questions that need to be answered, but not in that order. So, let me take a stab at these two topics, realizing I’m typing this prior to the US President’s statement this morning.

What Next:

Did Tehran deliberately miss key US locations? I heard an interesting comment last night, one I let slip past as I was watching events unfold. It seems the two sties that were nearly struck, not struck, but nearly, where both in areas where the Sunni population and the Kurdish population are dominant. Deliberate act on Tehran’s part? Most likely. It also seems the opinion most want to support is based upon Tehran attack was designed to keep escalation from taking place. Does that mean Tehran has completed their operations? No. Does that mean, like most “experts” stated last night, the next actions will be more conventional, terrorist type events and not kinetic warfare? No. Look, what took place last night might have been designed to limit the escalation of a conflict, but one important factor must be added before that concept can prove to be effective. I very smart man once told me, “ The other side gets a vote”! That’s right along the lines of another old truism. “ No plan survives contact with the enemy”. The intent of the Iranian military may have been to prevent escalation, but was that the intent of Khamenei? Did he not state the attack was not enough? What did that mean? Did his own military, IRGC, limit the orders they were given? Is he calling President Trump’s bluff? Are we, “out of the woods on this event?

If you break it down to the most simplistic stance, here is what Tehran, don’t know if it’s Khamenei or his military, is saying. “ Take our attack. Don’t do anything in return. Let us have our parade and declare the Great Satan was punished and better not respond. Do all of this and “we”, who I don’t really know, won’t make it worse for you”! Does that sound like a message President Trump is likely to accept? Again, I’m typing this prior to the President’s address today.

Off Ramp:

Does DC and Tehran want an Off Ramp? You can bet the Iranian military does. They fully realize what the next phase could mean to them. By the way, if there is a next phase, look for a large percentage of the Iranian Air-force to land in a Gulf State. Yep, massive defection.  Yes, it seems many do want an Off Ramp, but the question becomes, as it always is, what are the terms? “Eat this and do nothing”. That’s the message from Tehran. Those terms won’t go over well in the White House. So, is that it, does the US strike back? Let me give you an alternative, and one I mentioned last night on Twitter.

That was Pathetic:

“ Last night, Iran attempted to attack our forces in Iraq with a pathetic show of force utilizing junk military equipment. They blew holes in the dirt and we killed their number one Terrorist. Some say they missed deliberately to keep the situation under control. The fact is, they knew not to push too far or the US would destroy them”.  If that’s not the words President Trump uses, than he is missing a golden opportunity. Now, I have to really speed this up before he gives his speech and I look like a dummy for missing the opportunity for showing I predicted his words. Make Team Khamenei look like incompetent cowards and leave it at that. Let the next move be theirs. Let them see how that statement plays in the MSM and Social Media. Let us watch the MSM lose their minds if President Trump takes this approach. Yep. Laugh at them and say, “is that all you got”?

What Happened:

Okay, let me wrap this up with a down and dirty, “what happened” review.

1. The US knew the shots were coming from Iran. The US has  realtime intelligence over country and there is nothing Tehran can do about it. As those launchers were stood up, The US knew it. The defensive posture of the US forces was at full readiness. Oh ya, the four missiles that didn’t make it, A crap design or maintenance or a new way of brining them down. You can bet the ranch the Russians and the Chinese are digging through the data to see just what happened to those four.

2. Did we launch air assets, most likely and let me tell you why. One of the most tactically sound ways to get your enemy to expose their air defenses is to run right at them. As soon as the radars light up, the locations are placed in a target package and if needed the radar sites disappear. If we put our air assets up last night for such a mission, a large number of  IRGC air defense units need new underwear today. Oh ya. Can they track our aircraft in “passive mode”? Yes, but that doesn’t matter. It takes a split second to get the information needed to kill the site.

3. Backdoor communications took place. Any Iranian Commander, who talks to the Russian military inside Syria or Iran, had the capability to get the “truth” to the US. “ We are going to attack, but it’s simply a show of force with no intent to create escalation”. Would the Russians try to prevent a real shooting war between the US and Tehran? Read my blog post from yesterday. Did the Pentagon get word the event was going to take place? Most likely. Did the US already know? Yes, see number 1 above. Did the additional information keep the US from responding? It’s possible.

4. What took place last night was not only predicted, it was observed as Tehran was getting ready. The MSM may have been surprised and they wasted no time blaming President Trump for the beginning of WWIII!

5. Finally. I must make a very important point, one that we cannot overlook. As all of this was going on last night, the new US Socialist party, formally known as the Democratic Party, along with the MSM / MSNBC / CNN / BBC / became hysterical over the beginning of a conflict, “endless war”, all because President Trump is “irrational”, CNN words. Who watched this? Who took notes on the continued decay of US unity? Team Khamenei? Yes and as bad as that is for the US, that’s not the worst of it. On the other side of the world, a Dragon watches from it’s den as it’s future meals squabble. How did those four missiles come down? Nothing will be taken for granted!

Soleimani and Moscow
Do the Russians really care?

It is not a news flash that Soleimani was a key player to Moscow. So, when the US blew him up, what did the Russian think? How upset are they? Do they really care? Yesterday I covered the options Tehran might consider. In http://coldansviewpoint.blogspot.com/2020/01/tehrans-options-yesterday-my-topic-of.html?m=1

In that post, I mentioned I would address the relationship and consequences of the Soleimani incident. So, here we go!

Bromance:

As I have stated time and time again on this blog site, the “ bromance” between the Russians and Tehran is a complete farce. To Moscow, Tehran is a proxy puppet, and what makes that statement really ugly is the fact Tehran knows it. Not only does Moscow see Tehran as the capital of a puppet kingdom, that very kingdom hates the puppet master. I’ll condense at least two dozen blog post from the past five years into a simple paragraph. The old men in Tehran, Team Khamenei, are determined to set the course of the region based upon the desires of Tehran. Moscow is determined to use the Middle East’s as a leverage point against the US / West. Moscow is even more determined to regulate the oil and gas from the region given that is the live blood of Russian economy.  Simply put, we have two very different goals held by two countries that claim to be “ allies”. Russia and Iran being allies. It’s kinda like two Mafia Bosses stating they have joined hands! They may say it. They may take pictures together, but at the end of the day, they hate each other.

Soleimani:

Old news; Soleimani was a closer to Moscow than many in Tehran were comfortable with. Old news; Moscow saw Soleimani as the guy who Moscow could manipulate when the time came to do so. Short answer; many in Tehran envied Soleimani and many didn’t trust him, and he was a key player to the Russians.  Where does that lead us? If we accept these statements, then what was the opinion in Moscow when the US blew their “boy” up?  As I said two days ago, in Moscow, Soleimani was a great tool, but he was expendable. So, let me avoid just rehashing old statements. Let’s get down to the process of predictive analysis of how Moscow’s plans may have changed.

Putin Takes a Trip:

The Tsar takes a trip to Syria and does so right after their “Boy” is blown up by the President Trump. Now, if someone was to state this trip was a result of the assassination, the answer would undoubtedly be, “no! It was planned”. That’s the answer every government gives when they quickly travel somewhere before or after a major event. Why did Putin travel to Damascus? Simple. It’s the right time to send a message. “As we have told you time and time again, we will determine the fate of Syria not you”. Incase you didn’t catch it, that’s the “message” from Moscow to Tehran. That’s been the message since the day the Russians showed up in Syria and Team Khamenei knows it. The struggle for control of Syria is not between the West and Tehran. The struggle is between Moscow and Tehran. So, the question becomes, who does Assad side with, and let me tell you, that’s a very dangerous question for the Eye Doctor.

Did Putin attend the funeral of Soleimani? No. did anyone from Moscow travel to this staged event? I bet not. What’s the message there? Where did Russia travel to? Yep, Syria. Are you starting to get the picture here? It seems the loss of Moscow’s “Boy” was not that big of a deal? Why? Is there a backup, “Boy”? How could there not be? Does the death of Soleimani simply not register inside of Moscow? Actually, it does, but not in a way you might think.

Leverage:

When it comes to major global powers, what is the game this is played every hour of everyday of every week, year after year after year? Yep. The game of leverage. Soleimani’s death was somewhat of a setback for Moscow, but like every good strategic player, that setback was quickly turned into leverage. What is Tehran’s ability to resist Moscow’s operations in Syria right now? What is Team Khamenei more preoccupied with; the Syrian plan or preparation for a possible conflict with the US and perhaps Israel? What happened to the price of oil, at least temporarily? Who economy is based on oil and gas? What is the global opinion of the US’s assassination of Soleimani? Did the level of division inside the US political system increase? All of these things are leverage points in favor of whom? Yep, Moscow. Now, do the Russians want to see a shooting war between the US / Israel and Team Khamenei? No. Would the price of fuel go through the roof? Yes, but the overall economic impact, long term, would not be to the advantage of Russia, so the answer is no. The leverage from this assassination is a golden opportunity for the Russians and why should they mess that up?

Avoiding conflict:

Can the Russians prevent a shooting war between the US and Tehran? Not really. Can they offer the US an alternative to such a war? Yes. How so? Is Moscow’s only communications with Team Khamenei through the old men in Tehran? No. One aspect of the Bromance between Russia and Iran is somewhat off the radar. The interactions between the Russian and Iranian military is greatly underestimated. If Moscow understood the limited relationship it would have with Team Khamenei, it also understood the value of keeping key players in Iran’s military linked to Team Putin. Is there a replacement “Boy”? I would bank on it. Does Moscow have the ability to manipulate the next government in Iran? Well, they have a far better chance than the US the rest of the world does.

I will make this as simple as possible. If Team Trump realizes Team Putin can change the future of Iran’s leadership and by doing so, avoid a war that could rival anything that has taken place in the region in over a 100 years, then that option is most likely on the table. Is Team Trump opposed to leaving Iran in Moscow’s proxy bucket? The NEOCONS and the Deep State may be opposed to such a option, but President Trump get’s the final vote.

The Price Tag:

If Team Putin can offer the Off Ramp for a potential war with Iran, then we need to ask ourselves, what is the price tag for such an offer? Yes, avoiding such a war is good for the Russian economy, but is that all Moscow settles for? If the world is desperate to keep this possible conflict from taking place, just what is the world ready to offer? Folks, this is how the global game works.  If the US believes that a major conflict with Tehran is becoming more and more likely, then Off Ramps are critical.  Moscow can set the fate of Iran as long as the US and the rest of the world can live with how that new course comes about. A coup, another assassination, support to another round of youthful protest. All of these events would find the blame being placed on the US, but if the real leg work was done by some other nation, would that really matter? “ Regime Change”! Yep, Trump would get the blame for that as well, but a future Iran that is not pursuing nuclear weapons, not calling for the destruction of Israel and not burning the American flag, that’s the new Iran everyone desires, to include the future leadership inside Iran, it’s youth! Who makes this happen and what is the price tag?  I would bet you Moscow already has a sales pitched ready to place on the table. My opinion. Let’s sit down and see how much this car cost!

TEHRAN’S OPTIONS:

Yesterday, my topic of conversation was focused on the events of Soleimani’s assassination.  Towards the end of that post, I touched upon the response options Tehran might consider. As I watched things unfold in the past 24hrs, I came to the conclusion, “touched” was not sufficient. I knew I had to expand my explanations on options after I spoke with an old friend who has lived in the region for decades. My conversation with my good friend and the actions Tehran were reportedly taking, https://www.debka.com/__trashed-13/ , https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-51001167. Convinced me to do this follow up.

Deeds before Words:

As I said yesterday, the US and it’s Allies will not respond, at least I don’t think so, based upon social media post or speeches given at funerals. Those words may indicate anger, sorry or even political posturing, but it’s the actions that physically take place that tell the real story. Did Tehran begin to reposition assets yesterday? If so, did they do so understanding those movements would be monitored and thus, create a perception that may not be valid? Can organizations and or nations physically take actions that give a message or create analysis, but have no intention of becoming actual operations. Welcome to the every more complex world of Psychological Warfare. It’s reported Tehran moved key militia leaders, repositioned Hezbollah assets it what seems to be a prelude to a much larger operation. Remember all the talk about the, “Red Flag” from two days ago? Is that what is taking place here? Is Tehran actually taking steps for a pending operation / war? Perhaps these reported actions, and others the IC would see, are not preparation for offensive actions, but defensive? When President Trump made the comment the US would strike back in a disproportionate manner if attacked, did that drive Tehran into protecting key members and assets outside the country? It could be, but that’s not my bet. Oh, by the way, did anyone stop to think some of those “key” militia officials may have moved themselves on their own? Would you want to be driving around Iraq right now? Nope; I don’t buy the defensive action assumption, and I don’t buy the theory it’s a bluff. So where does that leave us? Preparation for a real conflict? To some extent, yes. But.......but.... that’s not our last option.

Paranoia:

In my post yesterday, I addressed the issue of panic, panic amongst the leadership inside Tehran. Let me present another option on what might be taking place with all these actions by Tehran. Paranoia, and I don’t mean based upon potential  US / Israeli actions. My hunch is, the paranoia inside Tehran is based upon loyalty.  I don’t know how many of you have ever been faced with immanent death, but I am here to tell you, the brain does strange things. Let’s assume the leadership of the Khamenei’s Proxy groups truly believe Tehran is going to engage in a major conflict. Let’s assume these same proxy leaders have read or heard President Trump’s statements about responding to such attacks.  Here is another bit of information. Proxies, such as Hezbollah, have their own intelligence networks. As a matter of fact, Hezbollah has a very complicated network. Each of these proxy groups, especially those made up of Arabs, Arabs who have no real love for Persians, are forming their own opinions on what is about to take place. Don’t forget the statement by Hamas. They basically said, ‘we are not taking part in this pending conflict’ Tehran may control their proxy groups, but the level of trust between the groups and Tehran is always suspect. Yesterday, I addressed the issue of loyalty inside the Iranian military and the stark reality of facing a certain death. If this issue is possible inside the Iranian forces, just think of what might be taking place within the proxy groups. At the end of the day, yesterday most likely, many of these proxy leaders may have sat down and said, “ Tehran intends to attack the US military with our assets. The destruction will be ours. The deaths will be ours. Our loss of status will not be refilled by Tehran. Even Tehran may suffer unimaginable losses. Our we really prepared for such an event? Is that in our best interest? Is there a way out of this for us”? Does anyone believe for a minute, all of these groups didn’t see the statement by Hamas? What typically happens when a crack forms in an already shaky alliance? His is my last comment on this section of my post. Did these militia leaders move on their own free will, or, where they replaced? Just how paranoid is Team Khamenei?  Okay, that wasn’t the last comment, but this one is, and it’s a good one. If this theory of mine is not true, what a great Information Operation this would make for the US and Israel!

No turning back:

President Trump’s statements about the US potential reactions to any attack on the US sets a very, very dangerous limitation on Tehran. Just what can they get away with? A few rockets flew near the old Green Zone yesterday? Was that it? Nope. If Khamenei doesn’t take some drastic action, then this becomes a clear victory for the US and a huge campaign issue for President Trump, and that is something the other party simply hates to think about. Sick huh? Cheering for the enemy, disguised as, “we are only worried for the people”! What we cannot ignore is the fact Tehran will have to respond in some fashion and when they do, it’s up to President Trump to execute or not execute that promised, “disproportional” response. Khamenei cannot survive losing his number one protector at the hands of the “Great Satan” and do nothing. Khamenei cannot survive pushing the Iranian military or it’s proxies into a meat grinder. The public will burn him down. He can risk staying in power by once again slaughtering his own public as they attempt to overthrow his government or, he can risk looking like a complete blowhard by settling for a few rockets into the old Green Zone. It seems he has no middle ground. So, does Khamenei have a no way out? Is there truly no turning back? Not so fast!

Teletubbies

Europe. Can the EU provide Khamenei a lifeline? Is there a way out of this crisis by Khamenei turning to the EU? Notice I didn’t say Moscow. I know I often talk of the lack of a real relationship between Moscow and Tehran, but trust me, Moscow is not the savior of Khamenei this time around. Can Putin leverage the event? He leverages every event. Will he keep Tehran from destruction? Probably not, and that’s a story for perhaps tomorrow. Okay. Back to the Teletubbies. So Tehran’s announcement they are no longer complying with the JCPOA, by the way, it should be called the JCPOS, I’ll let you figure out the last three acronyms, sent shivers through the Teletubby land. The little Blue Tubbies ran and hugged the little green ones and probably ran around in small little circles. Just how desperate would the EU be to salvage the deal they all singed onto with Tehran? Desperate is an understatement. If Khamenei’s phone range right after Soleimani went to meet his virgins, you can bet it was someone or ones from Teletubby land. Why not Moscow? Hold on. We will go over that tomorrow. Now, does Tehran respect the EU? No. That was not a joke. I can’t count how many times Tehran has threatened, promised and generally lied to the EU. Why? Because Tehran knows they can. Let’s imagine a phone call takes place, perhaps yesterday, between the leader of the Teletubbies and Team Khamenei. It might have gone something like this. “ Listen. If you don’t find a way to get the madman in the White House under control, the whole Middle East is about to go up in flames. I am prepared to go to war with the US and Israel if I have to, so you better figure something out and fast”.  And with that, the Teletubbies started to cry! The phone rings again, and this time it’s Teletubby leadership collectively crying to President Trump, “ You have to stop...... Tehran is really mad and they are going to do bad things if you don’t stop”! Alright. Does this sound melodramatic? It shouldn’t ,for this is an accurate portrayal of how the EU thinks. “ Let Tehran have some face saving event. Maybe we can convince them to limit it to a oil tanker or two, and then you can be seen as the person who actually forced them to the table”. Now, I am here to tell you, this is close to what has already taken place. I would bet my ranch, and I have one, on it. How did Khamenei drive this message of, “ you better do something” home to the Teletubbies? Yep, the JCPOA statement, that’s how. “Get Trump to accept some token response or bad things are going to happen”. That’s it. That’s the logic behind the JCPOA statement, at least from my foxhole.  Will it work? Here is the bad news for Team Khamenei. When was the last time President Trump gave in to a silly Teletubby idea? It’s not going to work. Once again, pressuring the EU is not going to when the day for Tehran.

Back to the Top:

Let me wrap this post up by going back to my main point. Tehran can have the largest staged funeral ever. It’s not going to change the reality on the ground. The people of Iran hate their government. Trump is not going to listen to the EU. The proxy groups are thinking twice about being slaughtered by an enemy they can see or touch. All the pressure in the world is sitting smack dab on the shoulders of the old men in Tehran. “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t”! That old slogan fits like a hand in a glove, with the exception of OJ, here. Khamenei is backed into a corner and that makes him a very....very......dangerous animal.

The Moscow perspective. That comes tomorrow, if Khamenei last that long!

THE DEATH OF SOLEIMANI: NOW WHAT?

In the past nine years, how many times have I talked about this guy? I can’t even count. Some of us “tracked” his actions long before he became a name most will rush to write a book about now. Yep, I was country when country wasn’t cool:). For my overseas readers, you will have to look that metaphor up. Anyway, Friday, I had an outstanding conversation with Daniel Horowitz from Conservative Review. If you don’t know Dan’s show, he is one of the few who actually seeks the truth based on facts and not agendas. Great Guy. Here is the link to the show. https://omny.fm/shows/the-conservative-conscience-with-daniel-horowitz-1/ep-552-soleimani-s-demise-and-fighting-to-our-stre/embed

As you can imagine, the topic of the show was the assassination of Soleimani. Unlike everything you may have heard over and over and over again on US Main Stream Media, Dan and I got down to the real issues. Here is the great part about blogs. You can go even deeper than you can on long podcast. So, you really gave two choices. You can listen to the podcast linked above, or you can read this blog post. Ideally, in my opinion, you should do both!

The Myth:

Soleimani was a hero to the Iranian people. All you have to do is tune into US MSM and you will find out just what a wonderful guy Soleimani was. He was “loved”! Okay. Yes, he was loved, but let me break down who that “love” comes from.

Have you looked at any of the pictures the MSM has and is posting of Soleimani’s funeral? I’ve post several on twitter and all with the same comment. Do you see any of the youth of Iran in those pictures? Do you see any skinny jeans? Have you seen any young women who are not dressed like they are attending a funeral? Look, the answer is simple. The people making up these, “huge crowds” are military members, government employees, some forced to take part in the event, and most likely Basij....you know... the Thugs in street clothes that terrorize their own public. Simply put, these photos and videos are nothing more than Information Operations put together by Tehran, knowing the Western media Will eat it up as fast as Tehran can post them.

So ask yourself, why? Why are there no “real” people in these “huge crowds”? I will tell you why, because they didn’t love Soleimani. The reality is, most of them hated him! Now, that doesn’t fit with the, “We hate Trump” media, so what are you told? “HUGE CROWDS”. Oh...by the way, it’s not just the US media beating this, “HUGE CROWD” drum. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-50997841

So, the myth of how, “loved” Soleimani was is just another indication of how those who I commonly call, Telatubbies, distort any event possible to further their own Progressive mentality. You know, “ If the US / Trump / wouldn’t have walked away from the nuclear treaty with Iran, we wouldn’t be in this crisis”. Yep, the truth never matters. It’s always about agendas.

Let me dive into another myth about Soleimani. “ The military loved him”! Um.....nope! If you know the region, then you now how prestige, status and authority play into top military leadership positions. Soleimani was the favorite Son of Khamenei and many of Soleimani’s peers had grown tired of that fact. His trips to Moscow worried not just his peers, jealous peers, but some inside Tehran as well. Not only was he the favorite Son of Khamenei, but he was Moscow’s Boy.....their go to guy......their insider! Was there resentment inside the Iranian military / IRGC and regular forces for Soleimani? You bet there was. They may have attended the “ HUGE CROWD” event, but once they sat down, crossed their legs and sipped their sugar with a little bit of tea, some of you know what I mean, the ones that didn’t like him, envied him, or just plane old hated him let their feelings be known. Soleimani......”loved”. Yes, by the old men who knew he would keep them in power and even some of them didn’t truly trust him. Too many trips to Moscow. So, there you have it. The myths about the Legend are not as mystical as the MSM would have you believe.

Panic, not Anger:

To hear the MSM and those they support tell the story, the “Anger” in Iran is unbelievable. Why, the “Iranians” are so upset we are heading for World War III! Hell, they may even invade! HIDE YOUR CHILDREN! Hysteria. It’s a concept the MSM loves. Why? Because if they can get people scared out of their minds, they will sit to listen to hours upon hours of “experts” on their networks, and that equates into commercial time....money! To here the MSM, CNN / MSNBC / tell the story, Trump has started another “endless war”. “Iran” is going to attack and it will be ugly!!! By the way, I always put Iran, when the media or the “experts” use the name, in quotes because to me, the “Iran” they use is far too generic. The vast majority of people in Iran don’t support Tehran; they actually hate the leaders in Tehran. Why do you think Khamenei had over 1500 of them gunned down in the streets in the past three months? So, I don’t refer to Khamenei and his Thugs as, “Iran”. It’s not an accurate statement. Okay. Back on point.

Is there “anger” in Tehran? Yes. Is there “anger” in Iran? No. What emotion truly rules the day inside Team  Khamenei? Panic. Panic is the word I chose and I bet I’m more accurate than the MSM. Why panic you might ask? Simple. If there is one thing the US Intelligence Community/ IC/ understood it was this. Soleimani was the glue that holds Team Khameni in power. The MSM got one thing right. Soleimani was the key player in “Iran”. Are the old men in Tehran angry? Yes, but are they more focused on the repercussions of losing their Top Dog? You bet they are. Does that create panic? Oh ya, and I can only hope those that put the Courses of Action/ COAs in front of the US Commander in Chief made sure he understood that reality.

Is panic a good thing? That’s a great question, and I’m glad I took the time to ask myself that question. Is panic the same as wounded? In a non physical since, yes! When is an animal, and Team Khamenei are animals, the most dangerous? You guessed it, when they are wounded. When I put my military hat back on, I asked myself, “ was Soleimani a Center of Gravity for Tehran? My answer was based on “tracking” his actions for over 10 years. Yes! The US took out not just a killer, they destroyed Team Khamenei’s Center of Gravity, and that folks creates panic!

Now that we have identified Tehran / Team Khamenei is in panic mode, let’s take a minute to do some predictive analysis on what that panic may lead to. Can Tehran go to war with the US? Sure, but with what outcome? Yesterday, some low level, regional Commander mentioned US military ships in the region and the next thing you know, the MSM is blasting out a story and calling in more “experts” on just what might happen. Would Tehran actually order the military to engage the US Navy? Does Team Khamenei not understand his own military commandeers realize what that might lead to? At what point is such an order not in the interest of Iran’s future? At what point in time do the actions of a few old men in Tehran, old men who most of the rank and file of the military hate given the way their hometown families and friends are treated, simply become too much? Does Tehran truly trust the regular Iranian military? Why do you think they have the IRGC and al-Quds forces? The relationship between the IRGC and the regular military; now there is an interesting story. Just what options does Team Khamenei truly have? When the Military leadership leaves the room, and it’s just Khamenei, if he’s awake, and his close circle of friends, what is the conversation? I bet someone knows!  Panic. It has so many variables.

If the old men in Tehran woke up and realized the US was truly prepared to end Tehran’s dreams in the region, what would they be willing to do? Would they factor in the pain and suffering of their citizens from a war with the US? Warning. This is the same leadership that just slaughtered over 1500  of their own for standing up to Tehran.  The future or the welfare of the population is not top priority. Staying in power, that’s the goal, and if that goal is about to be lost, then what actions are off the table? None, the answer is none! Wait a minute. Did I just validate the statements by the hysteria loving MSM? No! You see, in order to have an endless war or even World War III, you have to have an enemy that can project such a conflict. Can Tehran inflict damage on the region? Yes. Can Tehran activate operatives in the US? Now, that’s a serious and frightening question, but the bottom line is this. Team Khamenei cannot set into motion World War III. Nobody is going to come to their aid and Team Khamenei knows that. At the end of such an event, Tehran’s leadership is dead, the country is in ruins and the US and the West have no desire to rebuild what would be left of Iran. Yes folks, Nation State Building is a topic for Historians and is not in the US’s future. Sorry NEOCONS. Building Democracies throughout the world can no longer be the plan. It cost too much and the US population doesn’t care about Democracy in post war hellholes! Destroy your enemy and leave them in a smoldering pile of ash, and let them know if you have to come back, it will be worse. That’s the future mentality the US must follow and I am positive many in the Iranian military know it. Following Team Khamenei off the edge of the world for the sake of Tehran’s elitist dreams is not the rallying issue for war.

What am I getting at here? Let me stop rambling and get right down to it. Tehran must chose between poking the Eagle too much and doing nothing. They must find an answer their military, a military that talks to Moscow everyday on the topic of who rules Iran after Khamenei, will support. The old men must avoid taking a path that makes it easier for Team Khamenei to be removed than it is to take a real beating from the US. Hint. What does Moscow see as the future of Iran? Simply put, push too hard and dreams are lost. Can Team Khamenei find a way to save face? More precisely, can they find someone or some proxy to do their dirty work for them? Can Hezbollah be made to take on the US or Israel? Problem. The mindset inside Hezbollah is not far off from that of the Iranian military. Push too much and everything you have is gone. It’s a fight they can start, but they cannot win, and all the parades with aviator sunglasses on will not change that reality. Hezbollah has a political branch and Hezbollah’s leadership knows why. You have to have an afterlife when the frightening is done. Just ask Jerry Adams about his IRA days. What options does Tehran truly have? If they order Hezbollah to dive on the sword, after countless losses in Syria, a place that meant nothing to Hezbollah families, and Hezbollah says, “ let me think about it”, then what? By the way, I understand Hamas has already put the word out they are not playing in this new game! Interesting. Funny the impact fear can have on a person’s decision making process. Score another one for Team Trump! Then what? Who next if not Hezbollah? Can Tehran dig up some of the very enemies they claim to have been fighting? Can they get Sunni radicals to push the US? How about the bands of Thugs in Iraq? The so called militias that are nothing more than guns for hire, will they do it? Most likely, but it’s hard to step outside right now and getting into a car seem to be very....very dangerous. If that’s not bad enough, being named as a “leader” seems to be what you do for someone you hate. Yes, Iraqi based militias fighting a proxy war with the US may be the new normal, but the response in Iraq may be changing as well. If the US pulls out from the locations troops are positioned and simply turns Iraq into a drone bombing range, then what? I will tell you what. The Militias will turn Iraq into an even deeper hellhole, but they won’t have US troops to IED or shell with cheap rockets. Yes, the US can turn Iraq into what Afghanistan should have stayed, a bombing range! No Nation State Building. No forming Democracies. In the end, no endless government funding stream for the corporations that support the NEOCONS. Fight from our strengths and let the enemy sit in their own ash. Does that meet the needs of Tehran? The US once again, really this time, leaving Iraq would be seen as a victory for Team Khamenei, but should the US care? Playing wack a mole is the process they cannot stop. Playing wack a mole in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and anywhere else Tehran thinks they are gaining ground, well, that’s a lot cheaper than playing the asymmetric / unconventional game most “experts” in DC push for.

Inside Threat:

Does Tehran have the option for “insider threats”? Yes and the bad news is, the US knows it.  Unit 910? If you have never heard of this term, take the time to look it up.

Cartels. You remember those idiots right? You know, the ones that should be on the FTO list but aren’t. The same groups that have a history with Hezbollah. Think about it. If Hezbollah tells Team Khamenei, “we can’t do it, but we know a guy who will”, then what? Do we wait to a large amount of money is moved into an account right after a team of these cartel terrorist shoot up the city of Del Rio or El Paso?

Does anyone remember the speech given by Soleimani.

Can Team Khamenei pull this trigger? Would it need the approval of a reluctant military leadership? Would Team Trump avoid striking “Iran” over such a brazen attack inside the US? Is this inside threat a bridge too far as well? Just how panicked, desperate is Tehran? Someone better anticipate that issue and do so quickly. In the meantime, a few more rounds of Wack a Mole may keep the issue on the front burners for those who may decide getting rid of Team Khamenei is a better option. Did I say Moscow? Whoops!

PATRIOT   SPRING
A, "WHAT IF," STORY

The " What If" game. Over the past eight years, if you have followed my blog, then you know one of my favorite ways to analyze a topic is to play the, "what if" game. Now, in my background, this, "what if" game was formally referred to as, Second and Third Order Effects or, The Law of Unintended Consequences, two other of my favorite topics. I've typically used, the, "what if" game only because it just made writing fun. So, here we go. The following is my attempt at one of my favorite games; a game based on the attempted Coup in DC. I asked a simple question and add my opinion, and then I will give you a scenario on an event I am going to name if it happens, " The Patriot Spring".

What If:

Will the Senate support impeaching President Trump? The standard answer is, " absolutely not". Those that support the President are more than confident. Even those who were part of the attempted Coup believe they have no chance of taking out Trump; or do they?  Do they know something the supporters of the President don't know? Do they have a much deeper plan?

According to the Washington Post, https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2020/politics/senate-impeachment-votes/ , 56 of the Senate members fall into the category of, " have not said." Let me ask anyone who follows US politics, does that answer worry you? Just how confident are the supporters of the US President the Coup plotters can't get to 2/3rds? Is it impossible? Let me frame this topic in a way many will understand. Just how morally bankrupt are most of these members? What's the Gold Rule of US politics? Yep, get in power and stay in control. Do the Coup plotters know how many votes they must get? You bet they do. Do they have a list of targeted members? Absolutely! Here is a reality. Anyone who truly believes a percentage of US Senators can't be "persuaded," that's a US political code word for, bought, is living in a different atmosphere than the rest of the US. As for me, well, I am from Missouri! For my non-US readers, you will have to look that statement up.

It can't happen. The Senate will kill the coup attempt and then President Trump will win in 2020 with a landslide margin. Probably an accurate statement, but I'm a guy who cut his teeth on planing for potential, unintended events. Having said that, here comes the scenario I mentioned.

Patriot Spring:

On April 1st, :), A Super Majority was reached in the Senate.

President Trump was found guilty on one count of " Abuse of Power."

The news coverage was live from the steps outside the Senate and an undeniable sense of euphoria was given by CNN and MSNBC.

Within four hours, large crowds of supporters of the Impeachment were shown live around the world.

The numbers were estimated in the thousands, and most of the events took place in major cities and university campuses.

Global celebrations were covered by all major networks.

Apoxametly two hours after the Senate vote, President Trump Tweeted that a Coup had been carried out by the members of the Deep State and the American people had been stripped of their legally elected President.

The next day, The US stock market dropped 1500 points and all breaking mechanisms were put into effect for the following day.

By noon on April 2nd, Social media was reporting pro-Trump rallies were being coordinated across the US with the largest one set to take place on April 5th in Washington DC.

By late that afternoon, several of the major media networks began to address what seemed to be a growing outcry by President Trump's supporters.

Late on the day of April 2nd, many of the pro-impeachment celebrations were beginning to lose their numbers, and the media continued to address what seemed to be a growing outrage by pro-Trump supporters. Many of the pro-impeachment rallies had becomes mired in violent acts to include looting inside large US cities.

By late in the evening on April 2nd, media coverage of the violence taking place in the larger cities of the US could not avoid the appearance of concern. Several west coast cities were under assault by growing, ANTIFA supported riots.

On the morning of April 3rd, media coverage of the riots taking place in several US cities was world news. The violence had led to vast scale destruction in major business districts of the impacted cities, and Law Enforcement was responding with harsher than expected tactics.

As these violent events were taking place, President Trump had continued his consistent contact through social media.

On the morning of April 3rd, the President sent out a Twitter message that stated he fully supported the pending rallies that were scheduled to begin on April 5th. It was then, the President said it was time for a US version of The Arab Spring. That particular Tweet referred to what would become,
" The Patriot Spring."

On the evening of April 3rd, US media networks, CNN and MSNBC, limited live coverage of the riots still taking place in several US cities as well as multiple Universities. Both networks began to form a storyline the violence might actually be coordinated by pro-Trump supporters.

On April 4th, the US stock market closed at 1000am EST after dropping another 2300 points. Markets in Europe and Asia lost an additional 18 percent and closed after three hours of trading.

Late on the afternoon of the 4th, CNN interviewed several people from the riots in Portland who claimed to be members of ANTIFA. They informed the CNN reporter ANTIFA's goal was the resignation of all political leaders in DC. CNN cut the interview short when two of the members being interviewed began to threaten the reporter and her crew.

By nightfall on the 4th, FOX and BBC were leading the evening news with scenes of people gathering for the " Patriot Spring" rallies. The media identified over a dozen major cities where the Patriot Spring supporters were arriving in what was described as "huge numbers." Washington, DC, was the site of the largest gathering, and it was estimated that over 500k people were staging near the Lincoln Memorial. Social media indicated the Patriot Spring March on Congress would start at 8EST on the 5th of April.

10:30pm EST 4 April:

Twitter reports began to circulate news of massive demonstrations inside the Gaza Strip, and multiple rockets had landed inside of Israel. At 1045pm EST, The Israeli Defense Force Tweeted Israel was going to launch a large scale operation into Gaza. Major news networks did not address this event, given the instability inside the US.

At 1am EST, Tweeter reports, along with video shot from cell phones, reported the movement of large IDF units moving into position along the border to several key areas in Gaza. Major networks in the US mentioned the events in Gaza and Israel, but the coverage was minor and with little detail.

April 5th:

At 6am EST, the city of New York announced that no rallies would be allowed in the city for the next four days. New York's Mayor stated the past two days of gatherings had led to an unacceptable level of damage and destruction and as such, no further gatherings would be authorized. During their morning show, Fox News covered this announcement by the city of New York , and the statement was made that perhaps the Mayor of New York had canceled all gatherings to keep the Patriot Spring march from taking place in the city. Within the hour, social media had spread the statement as a fact, and by 7am EST, a large percentage of the nation believed New York had prevented the Patriot Spring rally.

9am EST.

Social media and the news networks reported the DC march would start around 9am EST and would move along Pennsylvania Avenue towards Congress Avenue. DC capital police had addressed through both social media and the major networks their concerns over additional gatherings outside the White House. Since the vote in the US Senate, a large crowd had formed demanding the President step down immediately. The celebratory nature of this gathering had become nearly uncontrollable at times, but law enforcement had been reluctant to disperse the crowd.

Media outlets from around the world covered the event in DC. Over 100 networks broadcast the event live. Several members of the march were interviewed upon their arrival. On the evening of the 4th of April, one man stated the march was to surround Congress and demand their resignations as well as to "protect" the President and the White House from "those who want to destroy our country."  Several interviews with similar messages had been published since the 3rd of April, and many foreign networks had been covering the violence taking place in major US cities. It became clear, the world was watching to see what would take place on the 5th.

9:30am EST.

It was estimated the Patriot Spring march in DC had over 300K members moving towards the US Congress building complex. The movement had been underway for roughly 30 minutes when networks and social media began to show clashes between those who were protesting for the US President's immediate removal from the White House and the Patriot Spring supporters. Law enforcement attempted to form a physical barrier between the two groups. Still, the Patriot Spring numbers were so large, the process of keeping the two groups separated collapsed within a few minutes. As a result, members of the group protesting against the US President began to throw objects into the much larger crowd that was moving towards them. Video clips from cell phones were rebroadcasted by dozens of global media networks within five minutes of the first event.

The violent clashes between the two groups grew dramatically in a short period. As the two groups merged into one large confrontation, law enforcement lost control of the contact point. Global media coverage reported the growing violence with the White House seen in the background. Major US networks were broadcasting the event as similar stories began to be reported in other cities that had been identified as Patriot Spring rally sites. BBC reported that "counter rallies" had been identified through social media, and these rallies had been organizing since President Trump's Tweet about the Patriot Spring concept. It was clear, those who supported the US President and those who opposed him were in direct conflict, and the world was observing these events.

1200pm EST:

Law enforcement in the DC area requested assistance with violent clashes. The option of dispursing the event with riot control tactics such as gas and water was not approved. The Patriot Spring numbers were so large, it was feared these tactics would lead to an even great crisis if people attempted to leave in a panic. The safety of those in the contact point was not controllable as law enforcement attempted to regroup around the designated arrival point of the Patriot Spring march.

By 1200pm EST, media coverage had moved away from the events in DC. Violent clashes were now broadcast live from several US cities.  Atlanta, St. Louis, Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, San Diago, and Chicago were the cities receiving the majority of media coverage. Patriot Spring rallies in these cities had supporters numbering over 100k each. Counter rallies estimated numbers were approximately 10 to 20k in each of these cities. Media coverage showed the same scene the world had been witnessing in DC. Law enforcement had been unable to keep the two groups from making contact, even when the cities of Dallas and Chicago had utilized the riot agents DC had opted not to implement.  By the time the violence in other major US cities was being shown worldwide, China's major news networks began to cover the events live as well. To the rest of the world, the US was in a crisis that exceeded the events of the 1960s, a time most of the population of the world did not remember.

1pm EST:

At 1235am EST, many social media platforms, as well as several US media networks, began to report gunshots being heard in DC and Dallas. Contact with law enforcement from both of these locations provided no information, and the major US news networks began to shape the perception order was being lost. By 1am EST, FOX, CNN and MSNBC were all confirming the sound of gunfire. Several video clips began to appear on social media that seemed to show subjects dressed in all black firing handguns into a crowd of people in front of them. As the media networks continued to contact law enforcement, stories of wounded and motionless people lying in the streets erupted on Tweeter and other networks. A local news crew in Dallas went live from an Emergency Room at a Dallas Hospital, reporting multiple gunshot victims. Video clips of three gunmen dressed in black with black backpacks firing into a crowd in Dallas were shown on all global networks. Within thirty minutes of the live broadcast from the Dallas ER, rumors of shots being fired began to come in from other cities around the US. It was estimated, nearly thirty cities in the US had significant confrontations taking place, and the ability to control rumors was lost.

2pm EST:

Major US media networks were overwhelmed by the increasing stories and reports of violence inside the US. Emotional lead reporters were visibly shaken by the events in the US. By 2:30pm EST, CNN and FOX news were addressing statements by the governors of Texas and Georgia. Both Governor's had released statements the violence taking place in their states would not be tolerated. Within minutes of the Texas Governor putting out his statement, the Mayor of Dallas called a local news network and stated the Governor needed to understand, Dallas could keep its people safe. In Portland, the Mayor declared it was the supporters of the Governor who were responsible for the violence, and the Patriot Spring rally in Portland would be disbanded by all means necessary. As the local news network was attempting to ask the Mayor what actions might be taken, the  Mayor abruptly ended the conversation. Within the hour, word of the confrontation between the Governor of Texas and the Mayor of Dallas had spread globally. Social media depictions of this event distorted the issue, and rumors of the Dallas Police firing on the Patriot Spring members began to spread.

5pm EST:

At 5pm, President Trump made a statement from the White House. He called for calm and asked all parties involved to stop the violence and allow local and state authorities to ensure an orderly protest process. It was his comment about, "orderly protest", CNN and MSNBC reacted to. Within minutes of the US President's statement, both networks accused him of inflaming the violence by supporting additional protest. Again, the influence of rumors on social media turned this issue into even more fuel for the violence. Those that were demanding the US President's immediate removal were calling for more of their supporters to "come out into the streets and stand up to the Fascist leader." Media bias had now made a bad situation much....much worse.

10:00pm EST:

By 10:00pm on the 5th of April, over twenty-five, major cities in the US had become the scene of violent protests. In the Cities of Portland and San Francisco, confirmed reports of protestors firing on law enforcement had been reported. Although major US networks continued to state the identity of those firing on law enforcement could not be confirmed, social media photos and video clips had convinced most of the US and the world, the gunmen were very similar to ANTIFA in appearance. FOX News interviewed two retired FBI agents on the topic of who was most likely firing on the police. Both retired agents stated they believed these acts were being conducted by groups who had long called for the destruction of the US government. After these interviews, people began to flood social media with comments over who was responsible for not only firing on law enforcement but the crisis itself. The overwhelming perception placed the blame on the Democratic leadership of the US Congress. The opinion of a" Witch Hunt" being responsible that led to the violence gripping the US became a reality.

1130pm EST:

Tweeter postings began to state that large scale military operations seemed to be underway not only in the Gaza Strip but in Syria and Lebanon as well. By 11:35am, Israeli Defense Force's Tweeter page stated Israel had launched a massive military operation to eliminate an immediate threat to Israel from Iranian supported groups in Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon. By 1145pm, BBC reports from Beirut Lebanon showed massive impacts taking place along the Lebanese, Israeli border, as well as the Beirut international airport. By midnight on the 5th of April, it was clear Israel had launched a major military operation, and Iranian targets were being struck across the region.

April 6th :

7am EST:

Morning news networks in the US had not stopped their live broadcast for over 24 hours. The news of a major conflict in the Middle East had been briefly discussed, but even that issue had become a point of contention. FOX interviewed individuals whose perception was, the growing conflict in the Middle East was a direct result of the Democratic Congress deliberately destabilizing the US President's standing in the world and that this action was now leading to the possibility of a global war. At the same time, CNN, MSMBC interviewed individuals who believed the actions of Israel were a result of a" disconnected, global community", brought on by the Trump Administration.

The discussion over the events in the Middle East had no value to the people of the US. By the morning of the 6th of April, over thirty cities in the US were dealing with the repercussions of the two opposing group's violent clashes.

In the cities of Dallas, Atlanta, and Portland, the violence had continued throughout the night. In addition, large scale celebratory rallies, that had been taking place in Los Angles since the Senate vote, became increasingly violent.

US stock market trading remained closed, and rumors of runs on hard currency throughout the nation grew by the hour. Local news stations showed long lines at ATMs and even longer lines at gas stations. Networks in Dallas and Houston showed what they claimed were miles of vehicles leaving both cities. Reporters interviewed multiple individuals as they were filling up their vehicles. All of them stated they were leaving the city, given the fear of the growing violence. Reports also began to paint a perception local grocery stores had limited food items left as people stocked up in order to stay home.  The events in the US were unlike anything anyone had witnessed in decades, and this time around, social media drove perceptions, and those perceptions became a reality.

9am EST:

When the Mayor of Portland was interviewed on CNN news, it was clear to the world, Portland was going to take action to remove the Patriot Spring protestors from the city. The argument was made, this group represented a violent viewpoint, and as such, it would not be allowed to hold any level organized activity inside the city. CNN asked the Mayor if it could be proven Patriot Spring members were responsible for the violence. The response was one that was heard around the nation,
" These people are the ones that gave us this madman in the White House."  As the threats coming from Portland became a topic that showed the divide facing the US, FOX News reported that many people in the US saw Portland as a strong base for the ANTIFA movement. To many, the perception was, many of the US cities were leaning towards blaming the Patriot Spring movement for the violence in the US. By noon on the 6th, it was clear CNN and MSNBC, as well as several other world networks, had taken the same stance.

4pm EST:

At 4pm, BBC news and a Twitter account held by the government of Iran announced Iran was launching a counter-attack in order to defend the people of Lebanon and Gaza. The statement was shot and gave no details, but the message was clear. Iran was going to war with Israel and perhaps others in the region. The news networks in the US interrupted their coverage of the crisis in the US, but the amount of viable information on what was said and what it meant only made the situation worse. Again, the accusations came from both sides of the US conflict over who was responsible for this crisis in the Middle East. No definitive information was provided, but social media from the region made it obvious the war was growing at an alarming rate. People were posting how they were leaving Israel, and the major airports in Israel were closed within two hours of the Iranian statement. Israel and Iran were in a technical state of war, and the US was powerless to control the event. When the reports began to come in of Portland Police Officers refusing to show up to work, the issue of Isreal and Iran disappeared from US news outlets.

6pm EST:

By 6pm, it was confirmed by several local news networks that over half of the Portland Police Department had not shown up for work or was calling in sick for the evening shift. The Mayor put out a public statement about the issue but gave no media interview.  Portland leadership shaped the event as a contractual issue, but virtually no one in the US believed the statement. Within an hour of the Portland story, a social media trend began to appear. " The Blue Line Walks" was the name of a hashtag that had over 5 million followers in the first hour of its arrival on major platforms. By the time the news networks were mentioning the phenomenon, the movement had over 10 million followers. FOX News was the first to ask the question if other cities were witnessing what had taken place in Portland? The answer stunned everyone who was listening. FOX received text message from Police Officers in twelve major cities, all of them stating that if they were asked to move on the Patriot Spring groups, they would refuse to do so.

8pm EST:

At 8pm, the headlines on CNN web-based news site read, " Police Officers refusing to follow orders across the nation."  Within fifteen minutes, CNN removed the lead caption, but the damage was done. The world had seen social media reports. They had seen the headline on CNN. Other major networks had carried the caption from the website. Law enforcement in the US was breaking down. Reality no longer drove the actions of the US or the world; perception was reality, and the world sensed a growing crisis.

9pm EST:

Up until this point, the response to the crisis in the US by the government had been vague and uncoordinated. The Director of Homeland Security had been questioned by MSNBC on the options the federal government had given the growing violence in the major cities. The answer that was given only made matters worse. " These events are issues for the cities to deal with, and federal support is not necessary at this time." Soon after that statement was made, the White House put out a statement the administration understood the frustration of those who believed the will of the American people had been subverted, but violence was not the answer. Again, the major news networks in the US turned that statement into the President openly supporting the crisis. By the end of the day, it was clear the major news networks in the US were overwhelmed with nonstop reporting, and almost every statement was based on pure emotion.

APRIL 7TH:

The morning White House Intelligence Briefing took place as scheduled. The Tension in the room was undeniable. Agency heads had mixed understandings of what was taking place in the US, and the events in the Middle East appeared to about to turn into a regional war the US would be part of.
The Director of Homeland Security and the Head of the Department of Commerce gave a quick analysis focused on the status of food item distribution in the US. The media had not yet picked up on the reality a large percentage of the over the road truck drivers were not at work. It seemed many of them were attending the Patriot Spring rallies across the nation, and as such, goods, especially food items, had limited delivery services. The issue of truck drivers led to the topic of gasoline delivery operations. It was clear those operations had been severely impacted by the same point of drivers. By the time the subject of people reportedly leaving major cities for lack of food and fuel, the environment in the room deteriorated dramatically. The US government was not only unaware of the status of the nation, but it was growing powerless to do anything about it. The issue of law enforcement walking away from their jobs deteriorated into a verbal argument that led to the Vice President screaming at everyone in the room. Of all the issues in the room, it was the statement by the President that shook everyone's confidence the most. When someone told the President he must address the nation as soon as possible, his reply was met dead silence. " What good would that do? The media will only blame me for the crisis, and besides, I've been Impeached"! For over three years, the opposition to the President had been in a full-court press to destroy his ability to lead the nation. What had now taken place was the classic example of, " The law of Unintended Consequences."  Those that hated the President had what they longed for. The Trump administration was in ruins. It had been voted out of the White House, not by the will of the people, but by those who valued their own power more than the future of the nation. In less than one week, the US was near collapse. Its economy was near ruins along with the rest of the world. A regional war that could quickly turn into a global conflict was about to take place all because the Israeli government saw the removal of Trump as a beginning of a new approach towards an enemy that was close to having a nuclear capability. Israel had chosen, "go now before it's too late." People were leaving the US major cities. Law enforcement was breaking down in many of those same cities. US citizens were killing each other in open conflicts, and at the end of that week, the true enemies of the United States understood one thing. Their time had come. The world would turn to the Dragon for stability.

At her million-dollar Vinyard in California, Nancy Pelosi's husband walks into the room, looks at her sitting in her favorite chair, and says, "what have you done"?

Does this story sound outrageous? Yes, I know, there is NO chance of the Senate voting against Trump. But................but........................ even if this event slides away, what of the future? Just how divided can this nation continue to be without falling into the type of crisis I've described above? DC is out of touch and out of control. It is time to limit the powers of the corrupt Deep State!

FOREIGN TERRORIST ORGANIZATION DESIGNATION FOR THE CARTELS

CLOSE, BUT NO CIGAR

What happened? Why did President Trump pull back on the FTO designation for the terrorist cartels? His statement, Tweeter, indicated he was suspending the FTO designation at the "request" of the Mexican President. It seems the FTO process is complete, and the US President can pull the trigger whenever he wants, but for now, it's not going to happen. Does this seem strange? Does it seem like President Trump has flip-flopped again? What happened? What did the Mexican President, AMLO, say to convince the US President to turn off the event? Let me give you several options, with one or two scenarios being ones I support the most, and perhaps you will come to your own conclusion. That's what I enjoy the most. Giving people information and analysis, and then letting them come to their own conclusions.

Scenario 1:

The Threat:

Did AMLO receive the infamous Horsehead in his bed, figuratively speaking? Did the cartels and their supporter, a reality that has global reach, pressure AMLO into asking President Trump to at least postpone the FTO designation? Did those who work on the money side of the cartel business realize what the FTO status would do to their operations? The reality is, FTO status will have a devastating impact on the financial side of the terrorist cartels, and let there be no doubt, it's always about the money. If this cartel approach was the reason for the agreement between the two Presidents, then what pressure was placed on AMLO?

The cartels represent a business that is estimated to be worth hundreds of billions of dollars on an annual base. Just how deep does that money penetrate? Let me give you an example. The former Mexican Security Minister, Mr. Garcia Luna, a person I know about more than you can imagine, was arrested in the US. He had access to information at the highest levels and was one of Mexico's ex-president Calderon's closest confidants. If you need an example of just how deep the power of the cartel money penetrates government agencies, sadly, Mr. Luna is only one example.

Did the cartels tell AMLO, "if we are going down, you wait to you see who goes down with us"? Did AMLO call President Trump and tell him what the terrorist cartels told him? Did "others" in the cartel money business inform both of them what the price might be? Short version. Did AMLO and perhaps President Trump get threatened with what would undoubtedly be an unbelievable level of corruption? Was the FTO designation worth the damage that would be done?

Scenario 2.

Evo:

Why did Evo Morales leave Mexico for Cuba? One rumor revolves around him needing "medical treatment." The most persistent rumor, one President Trump most likely would support, is based upon President Trump asking AMLO to kick Evo out of Mexico. Think about it. How would it look for one of the most prominent, anti-US leaders in Central and South America to take up residence in the country that's the US's number one trading partner?  If you need a reminder on who Evo is, read my post from November.

http://coldansviewpoint.blogspot.com/2019/11/evo-morales-saved-by-amlo.html?m=1

Are AMLO and Evo like-minded individuals? Yes. Do they both have a vision for the region, Central and South America, that is far different than the US? Absolutely. Is there bad blood in the US for Evo? Yes. How upset was DC when the word got out that Evo was greeted in Mexico as a comrade? Evo Morales is an enemy of the US, and for that enemy to be given a safe haven in its number one trade partner, well, that was most likely a hot topic in the White House.

Did President Trump call AMLO and demand Evo be removed ASAP? I would bet that the conversation took place. Did AMLO bargain with President Trump, because, that's how things work in this world?  " Mr. President, the FTO designation is going to have a dramatic impact on my country. Is there anything that I can do that may change your mind"? If the conversation between President Trump and AMLO centered around anything, it was the impact on Mexico. So, did Evo Morales become a bargaining chip? Did his removal from Mexico at least buy AMLO some time? You need to remember, the vision of AMLO and Evo are very, very close. When we look at the overall status of several nations in Central and South America, keeping Evo marginalized is a massive issue in DC.

Scenario 3.

The Breaking Point:

If the FTO designation goes into effect, what impact will it have on the day to day lives of the good people in Mexico? At the end of the day, the people of Mexico will have two choices. They can support the designation, or they can oppose it. Paranoia of US operations and or intentions runs deep in Mexico's society. That fact holds especially true in Mexico's military. There may be a soft relationship between the two nation's militaries. Still, history is a hard lesson learned in Mexico, and you can rest assured when President Trump's tweet went out on FTO designation, the Mexican Military was one of the first groups to state their concerns to AMLO. The reality is, Mexico's population was and would be impacted by the FTO issue. The real question becomes, just how much of an impact would it have? How much would this reality have affected AMLO's discussion with President Trump?

Would the terrorist cartels take the FTO status without responding in any way? Would the Mexican government, a government that is deeply influenced by the money of the terrorist cartels, be aware of the possible reactions of the violent groups? Could AMLO have informed President Trump of the dangers he and President Trump might face, not just the financial exposure of those who support the flow of drug money, but the physical dangers? What if the terrorist cartels openly informed AMLO's administration they would increase the violence tenfold, and not just in Mexico? Most of what the terrorist cartels talk about is observed. The US's Intelligence Community, IC, is the best in the world when it comes to Signals intelligence. Would the US have been aware of a continuing threat of increased violence? Would this intelligence have been confirmed by AMLO? Just how much more social pressure can the Mexican society take? Would the FTO event have significant, unintended consequences, consequences not anticipated in DC?  Did AMLO help drive home this potential reality? What if AMLO has made a comment to President Trump, " Mr. President. If the FTO designation takes place, the social structure of Mexico may collapse! You might be looking at tens of millions of Mexican citizens pushing on your Southern border"! If that statement sounds outrageous, I would recommend you read the conversations that took place back in 2011 on the topic of a potential Civil War in Syria. Would the FTO status push Mexico into a Syria Event? AMLO's passive policy will not be tolerated by his own military if the nation reaches the point of drastically increased violence. His Generals are already uneasy over his path to Mexico's future.

Scenario 4.

The Economic Impact:

What would the FTO designation mean to Mexico's economy, an economy that is already in real trouble? Mexico's oil industry is one of the most poorly managed in the world, and the profits from this ineffective agency are shrinking by the day. Mexico's oil and gas industry is the backbone of AMLO's social giveaway programs, and to make things worse, the terrorist cartels are bleeding off the oil and gas at an alarming rate. Short answer, the economic future of Mexico is not a bright picture.

What would be the impact on another large section of Mexico's economy, tourism? When the cartel wars really started to heat up, nearly twenty years ago, Mexico's tourism industry took a direct hit. Destinations that were once considered garden spots for tourists suddenly became war zones. Prices were dramatically reduced in an attempt to keep the flow of tourists, and those lowered prices impacted Mexico's economy. Let Mexico be recognized by the US as a nation where identified terrorist groups seemingly control everything around them, and where does the tourist industry go?

FTO status has a powerful tool, the tool of financial actions. For years, the true intent of the US to go after the flow of money has been based upon small seizures. Imagine if entire banking networks were targeted by the US Department of Treasury? What would be the true economic impact on Mexico if the drug business finances were actually seized and destroyed? What amount of slack is left in Mexico's economic belt? At what point do the people of Mexico say, "enough is enough" and march on Mexico City? Can Mexico have its own version of the Arab Spring?

Did AMLO call President Trump and make his case for not pushing Mexico's economy over the edge? By the way, does anyone think the terrorist cartels would not compensate for lost revenue by taking from another segment of Mexico's society? Read about the kidnapping industry in Mexico. In the end, did AMLO plead with President Trump over the economic damage the designation would create?

Scenario 5.

Called his Bluff:

Andres Manuel Lopez, AMLO doesn't like the current government of the US. He is cheering for any of the left of center Democratic candidates to win in 2020. President Trump calls AMLO a friend. Well, if that's accurate, I would bet it's a one-sided friendship. AMLO's vision for not only Mexico but for governance, in general, is about as distant from President Trump's vision as you can get. When he heard of the FTO designation statement, his reaction was the real gateway into his intentions. The US would not be allowed to interfere with the internal issues of Mexico. That's not an uncommon stance for any nation to take, but in the case of Mexico, history adds emotion. Even the middle class of Mexico seemed troubled by the verbiage of the US President. Pride is a powerful tool in Mexico, and AMLO played to that point when he responded to President Trump's Tweet.

Did AMLO call President Trump and paint a picture the US President had not anticipated? Did AMLO stand up to the US? Did he take a few weeks to figure out what he would say and how he would say it? What could he have said that may have made the US President look for an offramp? AMLO had time to draft a second response to the FTO issue. He had time to talk to others about the subject. Just imagine if the US IC reported AMLO had been talking to China, Russia, Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, Turkey, just to name a few. Did the US listen to the Mexican government's conversations with other nations after the announcement? There is never a time the US IC is not listening to anyone it desires. Imagine a conversation along these lines. " Mr. President. I will not stand for this intrusion into Mexico's affairs. IF the day has come where Mexico must turn to a new partnership, then I am willing to do so". Again, if you don't believe conversations like that take place, then you don't understand how the world works. Bottomline; did AMLO call the US President's bluff? Did President Trump find a political offramp in an election year by stating he had come to an agreement with his friend in Mexico?

What Scenarios do I support? Truthfully, I addressed all five of these potentials because  I think it's a combination of all of them. Am I completely off base, nor have I come close to the real event that led to the postponed FTO designation? In the end, it doesn't matter. What matters is the reality that Mexico and it's overall stability must be a priority for the US. As the US starts year nineteen in Afganistan, someone better start to realize where the real threat is coming from. Let Mexico slide into a historic crisis, and the topic of Mass Migration will consume the day to day lives of the US population.
