THE UNITED STATES OPENLY STEPS INTO THE SYRIAN CIVIL WAR!

If The Donald showed one thing yesterday, it’s that doing a bunch of talking and press soundbites before you hit someone militarily is not his style. Yes, he gave a few statements along with his staff, but the amount of blustering and warnings in the Obama Presidency would have lasted  weeks and telegraphed just about everything that might take place. By the way, it was interesting how Hillary suddenly popped on the radar yesterday and gave his military professional opinion on what targets should be hit. Now that is timing, or, someone tipped her!  Team Trump Needs to look at the list of who knew the strikes were coming as it appears the issue of leaks are still is a very real problem. Hillary….trying to look Presidential? Something else going on there.  Now, let me get another topic out of the way so we can get down to the real issues from this event. Yes, the US “talked” to the Russians. If you want to avoid collateral damage that might make it even more difficult for the Tsar to respond to, let the world get out a few Russian military members will killed in the strike. How long did the Russians have to move their people, the bet is not very long and short enough to keep them from telling the Syrians so they could get ready. It wouldn’t have mattered because putting aircraft in the so called “hardened” hangers is a waste of time now days. The only thing that got the Syrians was a bunch of destroyed aircraft covered in concreate. Anyway, yes, the Russians knew the strike was coming, but only one person of all the talking heads I listened to last night made the correct comment. A young reporter for CNN, reporting from overseas, perhaps Moscow, made the comment about the SA 400 system. He simply asked, “How did the missiles get passed the SA 400”? BANG…. He was the only one, to include a large list of retired Generals and Colonials, who asked the right question. The question that leads to what is taking place here. Why the Russians would allow 59 US missiles to penetrate the airspace of Syria, airspace they had let the world know they now controlled with their incredibly advanced SA 400 system, is the key to what is taking place here.  The picture they painted was, “Don’t even try to get passed this weapon system”! So what happened? How did a nation that has the ability to detect launches from naval vessels watch nearly sixty slow moving weapons and then allow them to strike a target? Just what amount of information was exchanged with the Russians prior to the attack?  But, that is just one tantalizing question, the one I have more interest in is how the government of Syria responds to the Russians allowing the attack to take place and who will take advantage of the anger the Syrian government will have over the Russians once again letting an enemy attack Syrian targets. Yes. I said once again. Don’t forget the numerous Israeli attacks to include in and around Damascus.

What we know:

As I said yesterday, let’s look at this event as if we are trying to solve a mystery and not waste time on watching the talking heads get paid on cable news today..
1.      The US informed the Russians the strike was coming.
2.      The Meeting between the Dragon and The Donald started nearly at the same time as the attack. North Korea inters the equation here.
3.      The US openly accused the Russians of knowing the Syrian aircraft dropped the chemical bomb with the word, “complacence” used. Something I will cover in a few minutes.
4.      The Iranians are not happy with the fate of Syria being decided by the US and Russia and to some extent Turkey.
5.      There is no love between Iran and Russia, just an uneasy alliance.
6.      The Russians had the ability to interdict the inbound missiles and it seems the chose not to.
7.      The Assad government is wondering why the Russians didn’t lift a finger to stop the attack, or perhaps even inform them it was coming.
8.      The Donald has sent a clear message about the use of chemical weapons to the rest of the world……..well….. maybe!
9.      The discussion of the Bromance between the Tsar and Trump has been knocked off the table. Unless, the “informing” message was more complex than we know.
10.   It’s real hard for the anti-Trump team to blast him over attacking baby killers. But, that won’t stop them, just delay the game a day or two.
Actually, I could go on and on, but the more important part of this story will come to light over the next few days. As a good friend of mine always says, “you have to wait for the next move to understand the first”.

The “IF” game:

I’ve not played this one in a while, but now is the time.
What if the Russians really did know the Syrian government was going to use chemical weapons, again, on civilian areas? Did the Russians miscalculate The Donald’s response? Did they think his statement of last week was a capitulation on Assad? I don’t but that one.
What if the Russians didn’t know the attack was going to take place? What if the team at that airfield allowed the upload of such a weapon to go unnoticed? Could the Syrian Airforce get such a weapon out of storage, prepare it, then move it to the flight line, upload it and launch a mission without the Russian team catching on? You would hope not, but just how attentive was the Russian detachment? Would this not mean the mission took place without Russian approval?
What if the Russians were so upset with the chemical attack, they allowed the US strike to take place? Perhaps that notification process was a two way street?
What if the Assad government acted in conjunction with their closest supporter, the Persians? Yep, my hypothesis from yesterday.
What if the Tsar is quietly more upset with Assad and the Iranians than he is with the actions of the US? Remember, he can’t show a crack in the so called Alliance!
What if the actions of the Syrian government have now boxed in the Tsar? He can’t look weak and he can’t admit he knew about the attack.

Where is this all going?

Yesterday marked a new day in Russian / US relations. Was it a deliberate event on the part of the US or Russia to weaken an already stressed relationship? I don’t think so. The Donald and the Tsar will figure this one out and the common theme will be, “how did this happen? Who is responsible? If my hunch about the Persians is correct, I would bet the ultimate price will be paid in Tehran.
If I’m wrong, and a few of the idiots in DC are correct. If the Russians did have prior knowledge of this event, then the entire theory of a Bromance was never on the table to begin with. If the Tsar was planning on making The Donald look like a fool for reaching out to him, then this is the first move in a very……very….. dangerous moment in history. If The Donald has been played for a sucker, along with the Democrats who are still hysterical about Trump’s “relationship” with the Tsar, then the world is heading down a scary path.
My advice to the Tsar, blame the Iranians. Give yourself an out before this gets way out of hand. The Persians are nothing more than a puppet on a string to the Tsar and that Puppet may have to go, even if they are not responsible.

Oh ya. Little Fat Guy in North Korea, take good notes! The Dragon may only tolerate you for so much longer as  well!

The Puppets must not be allowed to dictate to the Puppet Masters!

ASSAD USED CHEMICAL ON HIS OWN PEOPLE, BUT HOW AND WITH WHO’S HELP?

Did Assad use chemical weapons on his own people? Well, here is one answer you may not like, but listen to where I go with this. No! No, he didn’t use chemical weapons on “his people”. He used chemical weapons on those who are trying to destroy his government and those people use to be “his people”. That is how he and his Generals see it. Play on words! One of the favorite games in the region and honestly a preferred game by most political leaders. Can you say Bill Clinton?

The “if”:

If Assad did use chemical weapons on people inside Syria, how did he do it? How was the mission executed? The Russians know Western intelligence can determine what aircraft launched from where as well as what area they flew to. That is why they quickly came up with the storyline of the Syrian government bombed sites that had chemical weapons that belonged to the enemy. Short answer, “ he didn’t bomb them with the chemical weapons, but he did bomb the chemical weapons”! Okay! What is the end result? The end result is the people in the area were exposed to chemical events. Is this an outcome the military planners in Russia and Syria didn’t anticipate? I think we all know the answer to that question.
Who calls the shots in Syria:
How long has it been since Assad really makes the military decisions in Syria? Did he give the green light to bombing a weapons storage area that had chemical weapons in it? Would the Russians or the Iranians agree to such an event? Ah…now we get down to the real meat of this discussion. If the Russians were aware of weaponized chemicals, not just chlorine, being in the hands of the enemy and they decided to destroy those weapons, the right process for doing so would have been followed. Heat! You have to destroy chemical weapons with heat and no one knows that better than the US.  The type of ordinance used on the facilities these weapons may have been stored in would have been chosen to neutralize the chemical threat. That didn’t happen? Why?
Last week, The Donald seemed to be on the edge of holding hands with the Russians on the issue of Assad and that is exactly what the Tsar was wanting. Vindication. “We were right and the US was wrong about Assad”! Vindication. A process the Tsar loves. So, in the middle of this victory for the Russians, their military walks in the room and says, “Assad is going to use chemical weapons on people in Syria”! Gone! In a virtual flash, the support from DC is gone! Why? Why would the Russians agree to such a thing? If the weapons were in the hands of the enemy, then take them out in the proper way. Did the Russians want to prove the enemy had the weapons? Why? The Donald appeared to be on the verge of giving in on Assad? Why would the Tsar stick his finger in The Donald’s eye at the last second? It didn’t happen that way? It was not an event the Russians planned or authorized.  Okay. Now what? What did happen and why?

The Mastermind:

If this event is a mystery, then what are the clues we need to look for?
Let’s start with a few basic questions.
  • ·        Who would benefit from a sudden collapse of the forming Russian / US stance on Syria?
  • ·        Who cannot afford to let outsiders determine the future of Syria?
  • ·        Who has the ability to talk quietly to the Syrian Air Force and military leaders without the Russians knowing?
  • ·        Who would not understand the proper process for attacking chemical weapons safely? Better yet, why would they agree to attack them “safely” if the world wide response is what they were banking on?
  • ·        Who would know that if they did get Syria to pull this event off, the Russians could not afford to show what the West has been suspecting all along, a split in their Alliance?

If you don’t know who I am talking about, then you need to follow the region better or move on to another topic.
Yes, chemical weapons were used against Syrian citizens. Citizens that Assad’s government ether sees as traders or collateral damage.
No, the Russians had nothing to do with it.
Yes, the Russians have suffered a humiliating event at the hands of someone.
If Assad knew of this plot, then the Tsar time his next move carefully.
If I were the Persians, I would do everything in my power to convince the Tsar they had nothing to do with it.
By the way. The Turks blamed Assad. Go figure.

PS. If you read this and live in Russia, pass it around and see who might agree with me.

TILLERSON’S REMARKS ON NORTH KOREAN LATEST MISSILE TEST. ARE THEY REALLY THAT ODD?

Well, once again, CNN is foaming at the mouth over the actions of the Team Trump! ‘ We have no further comment’! JUST 23 WORDS….JUST 23 WORDS!!!! CNN was perplexed! They were finding this so very “odd”!  What is that Trump Team doing now? It seems, according to CNN, if a member of the Trump Team walks out the door, open’s their mouth or looks across the room, something is not right! Something is going to worry the world!

Odd words or move one?

Did the little fat guy plan this missile test to send a reminder to Team Trump as it prepares to meet the Dragon for the first time? Absolutely! Even the Western media was smart enough to figure that one out. Same old same old! A pending meeting preempted by yet another statement or “test”! Nothing new here…nothing to see…..keep walking folks! But wait! The US Secretary of State said something “odd”! Why…….he said, basically, nothing new here folks……keep walking! Now, granted, he could have had his staff draft the same old worn out comments the US Department of State has been making since 1994 when the Team Clinton started this North Korean, nuclear train wreck. Yep, it’s Billy Boy’s mess. Look at my post from Sep 16 of 2016. Twenty two years ago, Bill kicked the can and the West has been kicking it since.
What Tillerson did was, in my opinion, the first move in the discussion with the Dragon over their little out of control fat man. The first face to face meeting with the Dragon, unless the Democrats find out Trump spoke to the Chinese as well, will be all about North Korea. “Deal with North Korea and the issues between us on trade are all workable”. That’s my bet on what the real message is going to be. Now, if we accept this is all just a ploy, then how is it that CNN nearly passed out over Tillerson’s comment? Did the Dragon or the Tsar or South Korea or Japan find the “nothing further to say” statement “odd”? Do they all understand that words on the world stage are nothing more than scene setters before the doors close and real deals are spoken of? Outfits like CNN may hate Trump and they may openly show it, much like FOX did for the previous administration, but they are professional enough to know how the game is played. So, why? Why inflame the event? Why take the risk of pushing this pending meeting in the wrong direction? Does keeping up the hysteria over Team Trump…..trump being a craftsman at your trade? Yes….yes it does! No surprise here, but the US and most of the world, no longer has a true neutral media process.

The meeting:

For all the hysteria over the “odd” statement, the real story is the meeting itself.  Yes, North Korea will be the center piece, the five meter target, of the discussion, but the larger issues between the US and it’s Allies are going to have to be addressed. The South China Seas. That is one that will get a great deal of attention. How willing is the Dragon to discuss this topic? Will the Dragon use the crazy little fat man as the bargaining chip for the issue of the South China Seas? Will the US take the bait? What bait does the US have on the end of its hook? Look. The media has missed the boat on this meeting and why should anyone be surprised? The fact that The Donald will meet Xi before he meets the Tsar tells you everything you may want to know about White House priorities. The fact the media was hardly mentioning this meeting prior to the “odd” statement tells you just how out of the loop, how unprofessional they have become. There was a time this meeting would have been as important to the Western Press as any event held this year. Here is the problem, the US media and most Western partners have become nothing more than Yellow Journalism in the technical clothing of the 21st Century. They are no longer journalistic in their actions. Campus rags producing slanted dogma, that is what most of them mirror now! The good news is, Trump or his family or one of his staff members will step outside and say a few words or shake hands with someone or even just be seen and the likes of CNN will once again foam at the mouth, rally the so called “experts” and blast away at what the US has become. Important discussions are going to take place in the next few days. Agreements may or may not be made. The fate of Japan and our Pacific Allies may be in the balance, but will the media really pay attention? Wait…what……. Did someone say Donald Trump’s Dog Groomer had traveled to Moscow two years ago? Quick…get the team together it’s time to bash the President.

My bet is, the Dragon has a plan for this meeting and if you want to figure out what took place, you are going to have to read Asia Times.

YOUNG RUSSIANS AND THE IRRATIONAL CNN .

Live on CNN, the beginning of an open conflict between the US and Russia! Live feeds of the initial navel engagements and the CNN reporter at the White House demanding to know how Trump let this happen. “It’s Trump’s fault”! But, the good news is, CNN got the exclusive for in the end that is what it’s all about with the news media!
“Youth of Russia fed up”. That’s it? That’s the headline the editor for CNN approved for this story? http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/30/europe/russia-youth-protests-corruption/index.html
The picture CNN paints is once again based upon the “youth”, you know the ones that don’t pay the bills and the ones that see social injustice at every street corner. The foundation of the Progressive, liberal base.  The Russian Spring! Is that what CNN is trying to cultivate? Is that the picture they want to world to see? There is only one person that comes close to matching the distain CNN has for Trump and that would be the Tsar! What a twofer that would be for the Liberal Left. Bring down Trump and Putin all at the same time.

What George Soros wants:

What George wants, the Soros team, to include CNN, is out to get. It seems that CNN is completely drunk on the accused relationship between Trump and Putin. Are they so willing to make this story happen that they would put into motion the events that could lead to war? Would the US and Russia really go to war over anything? Most wars happen by events and seldom by deliberate planning. How many times have I talked about the danger of paranoid, ex-KGB Boss being convinced the West/ US is out to dismantle his dream of the Russian Empire? A front page story on CNN depicting the youth of Russia are fed up with Putin, how dangerous is that? Here is the really scary part, the part that lets you know just who is pulling the strings, it’s not even clear the statement is close to being true. A few collage kids walking around demanding free school, better homes, better jobs, better healthcare and so on and so on! The picture painted by CNN is the entire youth of Russia is near revolt! Is it really? Was it in Egypt?

The Tsar speaks:

Most of us understand Putin is convinced the West / US / is out to change his vision of Russia. Russian intelligence, one of the best by the way as it helps to have no rules, has also convinced Putin who really pulls the strings of the Progressive Left in the US. A name the Tsar knows all too well.
Paid to protest? Sound familiar? Was it true? Did someone actually agree to pay some of the protest organizers in Russia? Was that not the story behind the Occupy Wall street movement? So, what are the Russians saying here? Are they painting a picture of George once again sticking his fingers into the shaping of governments? As I said just a few days ago, who do the Russians believe was behind the push by Hillary Clinton and Obama to knock Putin’s vison off the table? What was the reason? Was Russia out to take over the world? Was Russia going to swallow Europe? What gave the Obama administration the drive to push against the Russians instead of working with them?  Who’s vision was the Obama administration really following?
Three days ago, I made the comment the Tsar would place blame squarely on the US for the protest. It appears that CNN is doing everything in their power to bring my statement to reality.
It’s clear the Progressive, Liberals in the US fear a Conservative based alliance between the US and Russia. They to have a dream of what the US should look like and Mr. Trump and Mr. Putin are a direct threat to that dream. What is utterly amazing to me is the fact that none of these so called Progressive Liberals understand the danger of where they are pushing their plan to dethrone Trump and Putin.  If the likes of CNN believe the Russians are standing in a puddle of fuel made of social unrest and they intend on using their network, along with funded social media events, another form of reporters in the field, to ignite that fuel……………well………… I would implore their Academic “experts” to go back and read about the Law of Unintended Consequences and follow that up with The Law of Second Order Effects.
The animosity for Trump is beyond anything the US has seen in decades. The push to drive Putin from power is equally unusual. In the end, the so called Peace Loving, Progressive Liberals are willing to torch the world to fulfill their vision?
Be careful what you ask for!

TWO TEAMS MEET THIS WEEK. IS THERE A BIG GAME COMING?

The Arab Team:

Well, the Arab Summit takes place in the next few days and once again the Rumors consist of some level of compromise on the Israeli / Palestinian issue. Not the first time that story has been floated, but a great deal has changed in not just the region, but in the two Team’s Quarterbacks; the US and Russia. If the Man Crush between Trump and Putin is on ice, I don’t think it is, they just can’t be seen dating right now, then so much has changed that these meetings take on new meaning.

The Non-Arab Team:

Rouhani and the Tsar are having a two day sit down in Moscow. Unusual? Yes. Predictable? Yes. The Tsar has most certainly figured out the game plan of Team Arab on the topic of Russia and Iran. Tension between the Russians and the Iranians already exist over the topic of Syria and who will call the shots in the end. Driving a wedge between the Tsar and the Persians is the goal of not only Team Arab, but their Quarterback.

The pending Free Agent:

Turkey. The Tsar had his plan for pulling Turkey away from Team Arab and even Team Europe and as a matter of fact, Team Europe is doing an outstanding job of convincing the Turks to leave. So, the free agent is looking at options. Options based on what is good for the player, not any club the player may sign with.

The Super Bowl:

What’s the Super Bowl for these two teams? What have both teams been struggling to achieve in the playoffs? Yep. The Middle East Trophy! And like most high dollar teams, not all the players like each other. Not all the players respect each other and some just down right think they are better than the other members of the team.
 Predictions:
Team Arab has a true advantage. The Quarterback of the Non-Arab Team is really indifferent to what his team wants. Their Quarterback is absolutely in this for themselves and nothing else. Show the other Quarterback who is better, never mind what the teammates want. Selfishness runs on both sides of the field, but it’s more crippling for the Non-Arab Team.
The Non-Arab Team has one other true advantage. Everybody on their team fears the opponent.  Iranian players are the most hated in the sport when it comes to Team Arab. A common goal is to keep the Iranian players from looking good on the field and that is a strong goal of Team Arab.

 Watch for the Trick Plays:

Every team has them. Something happens during the game and the rest of the fans say, “wow”, but only if the play works! If the Free Agent was to show up squarely on the Non-Arab Team, that would be a trick play that made fans say “wow”! The good news for Team Arab is that most likely won’t happen because of another minor player, another lesser than Free Agent. The Kurds!
As for Team Arab’s trick play, well, they have a huge one they have been quietly working on. One they absolutely want none of their fans to know about. It’s so controversial, that even if it wins the game for them, the fans may not approve of how the winning score was made. If you want a hint, look for the Star of David on a Helmet hidden along the sidelines!

Pre-Game:

Speculation is the key to good pregame showmanship. That is taking place at the Arab Summit this week and it’s also taking place in Moscow. For all the showmanship the so called “experts” will give as they try and show the fans just how smart they are about the game, one simple fact remains. To most of the players in this game, it’s all about the Persian players! The Persian team has the best Quarterback in the league, but Team Arab has a new guy who is out to make a name for himself and he’s not afraid to call outrageous plays.  Let see what comes out of the Pre-Game meetings this week.

Oh ya…… the Fans!

Who are the Fans, you know the folks who pay the bills? Yep, they’re the ones with bombs, gas and concrete raining down on their heads. Imagine a Super Bowl where no one wanted to be in the stands.

DISSENT IN RUSSIA. A VERY….VERY….DANGEROUS GAME.

Navalny is a very lucky man, for now.  The line of Headstones for those who have called for change in Russia continues to grow. It’s a fact that Mr. Navalny knows all too well.  Formulating a protest event on the anniversary of the Tsar coming to power was more than daring, it was stupid and eventually, it could be suicidal, but again, Navalny knows this! So why? Why keep pushing? Does Alexei Navalny believe so strongly in a truly corrupt freed Mother Russia that he is willing to give his life? Is he willing to risk bringing Russia into a full-blown social crisis, a crisis that would set the entire world on edge? If he is a “Change Agent”, is he so at any price? What would the outcome of his vision look like? What price is he and those who might follow him willing to pay? Does Alexei dream of another Colored Revolution?

Colored Revolutions:

Who gets the blame for fermenting the “Colored Revolutions in Eastern Europe”?
Will it be today or tomorrow when the powers in Moscow release the story of the “West / US”, once again attempting to disrupt the future of the Tsar’s dreams. I’m betting it’s already happened, again! If the protest in Russia are truly the largest since the events in 2010 and 2012, events that had the blame placed squarely on the US, then the story of Russian influence in the US Presidential election will fall off the radar. If you want to see the “blame game” played at the professional level, then wait until you see the response of the Tsar to this round of attacks on his vision. Yep. Attacks for that is how the Tsar will see what is taking place. Don’t believe me, go back and read about the animosity between the Tsar and Hillary Clinton and why he hates her so. By the way, on the topic of anti-Tsar advocates waking up dead, one only needs to look at the path of the Clintons from Arkansas to DC. Talk about Conspiracy theories!
If Mr. Navalny is looking for a Russian version of a Colored Revolution, the rest of the world may want to get in contact with him quickly and let him know they will not be attending his pending funeral!

A very….very dangerous game:

Does the world stand to benefit from what Alexei Navalny is attempting in Russia? If you are 18 to 30 years old and still living on a government loan as you attend Art College, then you may be naive enough to say yes! Is there corruption in Russian politics? Politics………… In the 21st Century, the very word is the absolute definition of corruption in all four corners of the world! What Navalny is attempting is not just a dangerous path for his own health, it’s a path the rest of the world has no desire to travel. Corruption in Moscow! What a shocker! Mr. Navalny is going to solve that? He is going to make Mother Russia pure again? To what length does anyone think the Tsar will travel to keep Mr. Navalny’s vision from even starting to take place? Would he have Alexei gunned down on the steps of the kremlin? Is that too extreme? Too late for that level of play has already been achieved by the Tsar.
Does the West have its fingers in this game? The statements from the US Department of State where about as stupid as one could get. It truly was the best version of accidentally incriminating oneself I’ve seen in a long time and those words burned into the mind of the Tsar; that you can be assured of. Yes the typical, supportive statement when it comes to issues of freedom to protest peacefully, is to be expected from the US and others, but that is not what takes place in today’s world! In today’s world, perception is king and the perception of someone as paranoid as the Tsar can only be one thing. “They are at it again. So much for Donald being different from the Socialist Obama. He’s picking up right where the last team left off”!
Look. The simple story is this. The West  / US is going to be blamed for these protest. How quickly the US can try to convince the Tsar it’s not true, that is the key. Here is the really bad news. It might be true and it might not be coming from the Trump Team! There is this guy named George Soros, heard of him? I bet you have. He loves….loves…loves to stick his fingers and his money into things! Does he support the Trump Team? Would he love to see the Trump Team enter into a true crisis with the Russians…the Russians that Soros hates as much as he hates Trump and only because he virtually destroyed the Russian economy back in the 90s and the selfish Russians won’t forgive him? So, is that it? Is someone outside the nation state level supporting what Mr. Navalny? Is someone out to create a crisis in Russia and by doing so, a crisis for the whole world? Again, reality doesn’t matter. What matters and matters to the safety of the whole world is what a very paranoid, ex KGB Agent thinks!
A game is being played here. A very….very…..dangerous game. Sometime the extremely wealthy truly believe their vision is more important than nation states. Some of these extremely wealthy people are from Eastern Europe. Some of them believe they will shape the future of the land they come from.

Mr. Navalny. Life insurance is a great investment for you families future and you may want to consider early retirement. Perhaps starting this week?

THE DEFEAT OF THE ISLAMIC STATE…..THEN WHAT?

So the US game plan is to destroy the Daesh once and for all! Mosul is key in that concept. Iraq and Syria are vital to the desired goal of the US.  So, let me ask a question, one that many others have been asking without hearing a whole lot of logical answers from Western governments or their armies of Talking Heads.

Then what?

I’ve heard tons of rhetoric [DS1] and bombastic statements about the Daesh from just about anyone involved in the fight to defeat the movement, but as the commercial use to say, “Where’s the Beef”? Will taking Mosul or Raqqa bring order to the region? Is order in the region the goal? Without “order” will the next version of Radical Islamic Terrorism simply fill the void? That’s the theory of most scholastic “experts”.
Here is the problem. The Donald didn’t sign up to solve the issues of the region. He signed up to destroy the Daesh. Is that goal accomplished by taking a few strategic, destroyed cities? News flash. The mission at the damn in Iraq was far more important than taking Raqqa or Mosul. Dig into it a little bit and you will see why.

A Symptom, not the Disease:

So, we all wake up in a few months and the major cities, territories held by Daesh have been recaptured? Recaptured by whom? The Kurds with help from the US? The Syrian government and the Iraqi government with one being supported by the Russians and the other being supported by the West. Oh ya……and both being supported by the Persians…still hard to figure that one out! So that’s it? Game over? No more Terrorism spawned from the region? Yep. Stupid comment and even the political pundits, who get briefed on events only to rush to the screen to show how smart they are, know better.
The Daesh and all those like it are symptoms, not the disease of what is taking place. The liberals will tell you the disease is social inequality. The Religious thinkers will tell you it’s the byproduct of a flawed religion.  The historical scholars will say it’s nothing more than an extension of historical conflict.  All of them are correct and all of them don’t have a clue what it will take to bring peace to the region. Yes, the Muslim world is at war with itself and yes it has been for over a thousand years. The breaks in the conflict have come only when the real threat to their worlds has come from outside their religion. Unique to the Muslim faith? Need I bring up the Catholics and the Protestants, whose very name speaks of revolt and conflict?
Yes, there is tactical value in shooting the five meter target given the closest threat is most often the most dangerous one. Confronting the actions of groups like Daesh must take place. People must know the threat is being addressed, even when it is “addressed” over and over again.  But the end of a geographically located Daesh will not lead to the end of terrorist acts in the world. It may make planning complex events more difficult, but the acts such as those in London yesterday will not go away.
Five years ago, I wrote about the War on Terrorism and the concept of the West playing, “Whack a Mole”. It’s the game we have been playing and it’s the game we will continue to play until something much larger and drastically more dangerous comes along. Everyone watches the almost daily brush fires of Terrorism and some talk of a death from a thousand cuts, but when a true fire, a Forest Fire, starts the Brush Fires will simply be left to burn.

Dragon’s don’t start Brush Fires. The Dragon starts Forest Fires.
